Stockholm Art Week 2025: between fairs, exhibitions, and open-air performances
Immersive installations, high-level art fairs, young talents, and urban performances... Stockholm Art Week 2025 once again made a lasting impression.

A city transformed by contemporary art
From May 13 to 19, Stockholm hosted a new edition of the Stockholm Art Week, an unmissable event for contemporary art enthusiasts. For a week, museums, galleries, public squares, and metro stations were taken over by artists from Sweden and beyond. A rich, eclectic, and above all accessible program for everyone.
Two fairs, two visions
At the heart of this week, two major art fairs drew attention.
The Market Art Fair, held at the Liljevalchs Museum, brought together more than 50 Scandinavian galleries. Painting, installation, video: a demanding panorama of contemporary Nordic creation, featuring both renowned names and new discoveries.
Meanwhile, the Supermarket Art Fair focused on experimentation. This independent fair, driven by collectives and self-managed initiatives, offered an alternative, raw, and free vision of contemporary art.
Museums and young talents in the spotlight
Several museums presented strong exhibitions. At the Moderna Museet, two artists stood out: the American Mike Kelley with Ghost and Spirit, and the duo Lap-See Lam / Kholod Hawash with Fish man, Fish man, an immersive piece on migratory identities.
On the emerging scene, graduates from the Konstfack art school exhibited their projects in an open and creative format, confirming the vitality of the Swedish emerging art scene.
Art in public spaces
Stockholm Art Week also stands out for its ability to break out of conventional spaces.
At Hötorget station, the luminous installation ANDETAG by Malin and Gustaf Tadaa transformed the metro into a sensory labyrinth. Meanwhile, at Sergels Torg, the city's central square, open-air performances and concerts blended world music, Ethiopian jazz, contemporary dance, and urban poetry.
A musical closing
On Sunday, May 18, Galleri Elfva hosted an outdoor classical concert with soprano Burcu B. Kuru, baritone Amon Re, and pianist Aynur Melikova. A delicate moment to close this intense artistic week on a refined note.
An essential event
With its diversity, accessibility, and ability to bridge the art market, emerging creation, and public space, Stockholm Art Week reaffirms its importance in the European cultural landscape.
