LOUIS VUITTON VISIONARY JOURNEYS IN OSAKA
Until September 17, 2025, the Nakanoshima Museum of Art in Osaka hosts Louis Vuitton’s immersive exhibition Visionary Journeys. This presentation celebrates the brand’s 170th anniversary and coincides with the Osaka-Kansai Expo 2025. The exhibition explores Louis Vuitton’s creative heritage through twelve thematic chapters, highlighting the brand’s evolution from its origins to its contemporary collaborations with Japanese artists such as Takashi Murakami, Yayoi Kusama, and Rei Kawakubo.
The exhibition stands out for its innovative scenography designed by Shohei Shigematsu from the OMA firm. Visitors are welcomed by monumental installations, including giant paper lanterns made of washi and a dome formed by 138 stacked trunks, symbolizing the brand’s spirit of travel. The following galleries offer an immersive journey through Louis Vuitton’s history, with sections dedicated to craftsmanship, sustainability, and the Asnières workshop, featuring live demonstrations.
A special area focuses on the relationship between Louis Vuitton and Japan, tracing the influence of Japonism on the brand’s early creations and highlighting major artistic collaborations. Visitors can also discover contemporary works, such as the Toolbox Trunk by artist and ambassador Sho Hirano. A pop-up shop offers exclusive items, including the book Louis Vuitton and Japan: A Visionary Journey, co-published with Rizzoli.
