The beach is probably the last place you'd expect to find merinos wool. But when the famous French swimwear brand Vilebrequin teams up with the Woolmark Company, everything is possible. The two brands, with a strong background in tailoring and innovation, are introducing a capsule collection of three innovative men's swimsuits inspired by traditional techniques this summer.

As did Outherknown, a Californian lifestyle brand founded by Kelly Slater, a few years earlier, the French brand jumps from plastic to sheep. Indeed, wool is one of the oldest and most durable animal fibers. Merinos wool, from Australia, has a remarkable durability, quality and softness that few other textile fibers can match. This fiber is both soft to the skin and resistant to the harshness of the ocean. Thanks to its manufacturing techniques, these swim shorts redefine the way we wear wool, bringing it into aquatic environments.

Thanks to its scaly structure, the fibers of combed merinos wool form a fabric naturally adapted to water. It also has a fast drying time, between five and seven minutes, especially when the density of the weave is important. This 100% natural fiber is the ideal partner for hot weather thanks to its remarkable characteristics. It is ultra-breathable, anti-humidity and thermoregulatory. Besides being 100% biodegradable, wool is the most reused and recycled of all fibers in everyday clothing. Merinos wool combines elegance, performance and respect for the environment, making it the ideal fiber for summer.
