David Hockney 25 at the Fondation Louis Vuitton
Until August 31, 2025, the Fondation Louis Vuitton is presenting an exceptional retrospective dedicated to David Hockney, a leading figure in contemporary art. Titled “David Hockney 25 – Do remember they can’t cancel the Spring,” the exhibition spans eleven galleries and brings together over 400 works, covering nearly 70 years of artistic creation. From his earliest experiments to his most recent works created in Normandy, Hockney, now 87 years old, personally participated in the selection of the pieces on display.
Oil paintings, charcoal drawings, composite photographs, immersive videos, digital creations on iPad... The diversity of mediums used reflects the artist’s boundless inventiveness. Iconic works such as A Bigger Splash and Portrait of an Artist (Pool with Two Figures) are shown alongside more recent pieces inspired by the Norman landscape, as well as vibrant tributes to Monet, Munch, and Blake. A dedicated installation highlights his work for the opera, adding a unique scenographic dimension.
