David Hockney 25
From April 9 to August 31, 2025, the Fondation Louis Vuitton presents the exhibition "David Hockney 25", an exceptional retrospective dedicated to one of the most influential artists of the 20th and 21st centuries. This exhibition brings together more than 400 works created between 1955 and 2025, offering a comprehensive immersion into the creative world of David Hockney.
Visitors will discover a wide range of artistic techniques used by Hockney, including oil and acrylic paintings, ink, pencil, and charcoal drawings, as well as digital works created on iPhone and iPad. Highlights include iconic pieces such as A Bigger Splash (1967) and Portrait of an Artist (Pool with Two Figures) (1972), showcasing the stylistic evolution of the artist over the decades.
The exhibition places special emphasis on the last 25 years of Hockney's career, a period during which he explored new media and revisited recurring themes. A notable section is devoted to his monumental Normandy landscapes, created on iPad and canvas, reflecting his ongoing fascination with nature and the changing seasons.
David Hockney was personally involved in the conception of this exhibition, working closely with his team to select the works and shape the visitor journey. He expressed his enthusiasm, stating: "This exhibition is particularly important to me, as it is the largest I’ve ever had – all eleven galleries of the Fondation Louis Vuitton!"
The Fondation Louis Vuitton also offers activities related to the exhibition, including workshops for children and family-guided tours, allowing visitors of all ages to explore Hockney's work in an interactive way.
