VIRGIL ABLOH: THE CODES AT THE GRAND PALAIS

Opening at the Grand Palais from September 30 to October 10, 2025, Virgil Abloh: The Codes marks the first major European retrospective dedicated to the visionary designer. Organized by the Virgil Abloh Archive™ in collaboration with Nike, the exhibition will feature over 20,000 archival items, with around 1,000 objects on public display, many of them never seen before.

Curated by Chloé Sultan and Mahfuz Sultan, the show delves into Abloh’s creative universe through sketches, prototypes, personal books, and iconic designs. The “codes” refer to the conceptual principles he applied across disciplines (from fashion to architecture, music to branding) making his process radically transparent and collaborative. Highlights include collaborations with Nike, Takashi Murakami, Serena Williams, and A$AP Rocky.

Beyond the exhibition, a cultural program of workshops, talks, performances, and screenings invites visitors to engage more deeply with his legacy. As Shannon Abloh, President of the Archive, explains: “Sharing his personal collections and unfinished projects with the public is a monumental way to honor his mission of making knowledge accessible.” This show serves as a living tribute to Abloh’s multidisciplinary genius.
