VIRGIL ABLOH CELEBRATED IN PARIS WITH THE CODES EXHIBITION
From September 30 to October 10, 2025, the Grand Palais in Paris will host the exhibition “Virgil Abloh The Codes,” a monumental retrospective dedicated to the work of the American designer. Organized by the Virgil Abloh Archive™ in partnership with Nike, this exhibition marks the first major European retrospective devoted to the universe of this multidisciplinary designer who passed away in 2021. The event coincides with Paris Fashion Week, beginning on Virgil Abloh’s birthday, September 30.
The exhibition explores nearly two decades of creation through the artist’s personal archive, consisting of more than 20,000 objects. Over 1,000 pieces, including prototypes, sketches, photographs, and personal items, are on display. Visitors can discover Virgil Abloh’s collaborative approach, his transdisciplinary design principles, and his work with artists, designers, and athletes. The exhibition curators, Chloe and Mahfuz Sultan, designed this event as an extension of the exhibition presented in Miami in 2022.
In parallel with the exhibition, public programs such as dialogues, workshops, screenings, and virtual content are organized to extend global access to Virgil Abloh’s visionary universe. Shannon Abloh, the designer’s widow and president of the Virgil Abloh Archive™, emphasizes the importance of sharing his unfinished projects and creative ideas to preserve his legacy and inspire future generations.
