DISCOVER THESE NEW TEXTILE INNOVATIONS AGAINST COVID-19
In these difficult times it is important to take care of our health as well as that of our loved ones, which is why these companies are actively fighting against the proliferation of the virus by making new discoveries. This ranges from anti-virus textile sprays to neutralising masks. Innovations in this area are constantly being developed, to our great delight. PRONEEM, for example, has developed the VIRAL STOP MASK, which is the first certified mask to neutralise the SARS-CoV-2 virus responsible for COVID-19 and its variants. Treated on the surface with the VIRAL STOP product (another of their innovations), the outer fabric of the mask creates an antiviral barrier that can destroy up to 99.99% of infectious agents in less than 30 minutes.
SOLVAY has also developed a new AMNI VIRUS BAC OFF polymer and polyamide yarn in record time at their research centres in Brazil. The product incorporates antiviral and antibacterial agents, allowing the fabric to block further contamination from a wide range of diseases. It can be used in the production of knitwear and fabrics as well as in several applications, such as car and bus seat covers, or in the manufacture of masks and clothing. Its anti-viral and anti-bacterial action persists throughout the life of the textile article and remains effective after countless washes.
The same applies to the RUDOLPH GROUP, which has developed a new technology called RUCO-BAC AGP. Following the global Covid-19 pandemic, the demand for chemical auxiliaries with an antimicrobial effect exploded. They invested in the evaluation of a new anti-viral functionality which is now added to one of their leading technologies Ruco-Bac AGP which effectively protects any textile against bacteria (harmful and odour causing), its superior anti-viral performance on textiles has been independently demonstrated. Evaluations have been conducted on families of enveloped coronaviridae known to cause a wide range of animal and human diseases. It is suitable for skin-on applications and cytotoxicity tests show that it has no influence on the natural microflora of the skin. The supplier FITECOM, for example, which can be found in our Trendbook Women Autumn-Winter 22-23, is one of the health-conscious suppliers who can use such products on their fabrics.
