PIROUETTE : TURNING POINTS IN DESIGN AT MOMA

From January 26 to October 18, 2025, the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York is presenting the exhibition Pirouette: Turning Points in Design, exploring the profound impact of design on society. Curated by senior curator Paola Antonelli, the exhibition brings together over 100 iconic objects from the museum’s collection, spanning from the 1930s to the present.
Featured items include the Sony Walkman, Milton Glaser’s “I ♥ NY” logo, Apple’s Mac 128K, the BIC Cristal pen, Shigetaka Kurita’s first emojis, the MUAC bracelet from Médecins Sans Frontières, and Golan Levin’s universal construction kit.

The exhibition highlights how these objects not only met practical needs but also transformed behavior, communication, and human interaction. Each piece is presented in an immersive space designed to encourage reflection on its role in society’s evolution. Interactive installations, such as 1960s View-Masters, allow visitors to experience the objects in a sensory and engaging way.

Pirouette underscores the power of design as an agent of change, capable of creating innovative solutions to contemporary challenges. The exhibition offers a captivating reflection on how design can positively shape our future and is open to the public until October 18, 2025.
