Loewe Foundation Craft Prize 2025

From May 30 to June 29, 2025, the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum in Madrid will showcase the 30 finalist works of the LOEWE FOUNDATION Craft Prize, selected from over 4,600 submissions from 133 countries. These pieces, representing 18 nations, span a wide range of practices—ceramics, glass, wood, metal, textiles, paper, jewelry—demonstrating remarkable inventiveness in the use of traditional techniques.

The 2025 edition stands out for its bold reinterpretations: basket weaving with clay, textile work on metal, and the revival of ancestral motifs. Some works pay tribute to orally transmitted knowledge, while others explore deeply personal paths—singular sculptural forms and gestural surface treatments often imbued with poetry and imagination.

Launched in 2016, the Craft Prize honors the artisanal origins of the LOEWE house, founded in 1846 as a collective leather workshop in Madrid. Supported by the LOEWE FOUNDATION, this annual award aims to celebrate craftsmanship as a pillar of contemporary culture, while spotlighting artists whose talent, vision, and creative boldness shape the future of art. The 2025 edition offers an inspiring glimpse into the future of material and handcraft.
