SKIMS pop-up store by Willo Perron
Designer WilloPerron designed the first pop-up store for Kim Kardashian's underwear brand SKIMS, which is located in Paris, furnished with displays as well as glossy, thick partitions. The temporary SKIMS store is located in a 280 square meter space on the first floor at the entrance of the Parisian department store Galeries Lafayette Paris Haussmann. The beige, glossy partitions and shelves are central to the store's distinctive design. "The whole concept was based on no hard corners, everything is round with soft edges and all the pieces are super shiny," Perron said. "I wanted people to have the overwhelming urge to touch. It's also reminiscent of the shapes and curves of a body."
Underwear, shapewear and loungewear items are displayed inside thick beige cabinets equipped with hooks. Built-in shelves provide additional display space for clothing. Customers can try on items in the thick-walled fitting rooms, framed by soft pink curtains. The store is inspired by the underwear brand's ethos, which is committed to providing an inclusive range of sizes and shapes for all bodies.
Perron also decided to use colors and materials that similarly reflect the brand. A thermoformed plastic coated in a bright beige was used throughout. "The color choices were made based on the Skims collection and the color palette they use," he said. "The material is mostly vacuformed and some of it is traditional millwork with the same finish as the vacuformed pieces," the designer continued. Other details include posters of Kardashian wearing the collection and a giant version of the SKIMS logo on the front of a partition near the store's entrance.
