INTERACTIVE GLASS RECYCLING BIN BY JACK LEE & TRINNA WU
Aiming to achieve an infinite circulation of glass and increasing the rate of bottles recycled – Taiwan-based Jack Lee and Trinna Wu create a one-of-a-kind ’Interactive Glass Recycling Bin’.
Encouraging participation – this sustainable model serves as an educational public installation that “can be set up anywhere so that the glass bottles can be instantly collected from the source of waste itself” says Lee and Wu.
Making use of the unique texture and reflectivity of glass – it facilitates an interaction between people and recycling. Featuring a minimalistic modern aesthetic with a white finish and rounded corners this product can be effortlessly assembled and transported. The wheels with brakes at the bottom further improve its overall mobility and stability. Using a counterweight mechanism – its door plate can be pushed open naturally by the weight of the bottle and closed automatically when not in use to avoid odor escape.
The designers utilize 2mm iron plates for the structure while also keeping it lightweight with – metal punching plates, hollow tubes and thin steel bars which use ready-made materials with bolts reducing production costs. Its 5 mm recycled and replaceable textured glass sheets and light additionally create a fascinating artistic visual. Accelerating collection efficiency, its lowest track adopts a non-porous iron plate with a channel that – diverts the residual liquid of the bottle in the upper layer to the bottom water box.
The best part? It brilliantly features solar panels on the top which absorbs sunlight and produces ambient lighting for 6-8 hours.
