CATWALK : THE ART OF THE FASHION SHOW
The Vitra Design Museum in Weil am Rhein opens on October 18, 2025, the exhibition Catwalk: The Art of the Fashion Show, running until February 15, 2026. This ambitious showcase traces the evolution of the fashion show, from private presentations of the early 20th century to today’s digital spectacles, through iconic garments, stage designs, films, and archival photography.
Featured creators include legendary houses such as Balenciaga, Chanel, Dior, Alexander McQueen, and Prada, alongside historical moments like the “Battle of Versailles” and milestones in fashion scenography. The exhibition also examines the cultural and social dimension of the runway, as a performative stage, a site of power, and a mirror of collective ideals.
Open daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., the museum invites visitors into a fully immersive journey through the history of the catwalk. By blending fashion, architecture, and performance, Catwalk reveals that the runway is not merely a commercial event but an artistic medium shaping our vision of the body, style, and visual culture.
