ANDRÉ LEON TALLEY : STYLE IS FOREVER
Since August 15, 2025, the SCAD Museum of Art in Savannah is hosting the immersive exhibition André Leon Talley: Style Is Forever, celebrating the legendary Vogue editor. The show features nearly 70 pieces from his personal collection, ranging from haute couture to bespoke creations, including the embroidered leather Tom Ford for Gucci coat he wore to the 1999 Met Gala.
The exhibition traces Talley’s extraordinary journey, from his upbringing by his grandmother Bennie Frances Davis in Durham, North Carolina, to his apprenticeship with Diana Vreeland at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and his influential work at Interview with Andy Warhol. He became the first African-American creative director at Vogue and was renowned for his flamboyant style, characterized by capes and majestic gowns, making him a fashion icon.
Beyond his influence in fashion, Talley was a devoted mentor, especially at SCAD, where he supported numerous Black fashion students. The exhibition honors his generosity, commitment to diversity, and essential role in fashion history. Visitors can explore this celebration of his legacy in Savannah until January 11, 2026, and then in Atlanta from October 15, 2025, to March 1, 2026.
