ALESSANDRO ZAMBELLI & SELETTI’S MARBLE FITNESS EQUIPMENT

To say that marble is one of design’s favourite would be a massive understatement. From homes to museum to public spaces, marble will make everything it touches ten times more elegant and precious. This is probably why Alessandro Zambelli and Seletti’s went for this specific stone to design their new fitness equipment ! There also is a slight chance that they’re hoping to make working out feel like less of a chore if you’re doing it with stylish equipment.

Titled ‘LVDIS’, the series looks back to the gladiatorial games of Ancient Rome called ‘ludi’, a festival that honours the god Jupiter. The Roman numbering, indicating the weight on the tools, is engraved like the historical inscriptions on the surface of the marble collection. The reference to the Doric column groove through the octagonal geometry of the handlebars nods well to the Hellenic era’s aesthetic.
LVDIS (ludis) means “sports” in Latin, so this set of marble weights has everything to do with sports. Unfortunately, some people forget that weightlifting is a sport, but LVDIS will change all that. And even if you don’t lift weights or are not interested in getting fit, you can still have these dumbbells to display at home.
