Rick Owens Retrospective: Shadow and Substance
Palais Galliera – 10 Avenue Pierre 1er de Serbie, 75116 Paris
From Saturday, June 28, 2025 to Sunday, January 4, 2026
From June 28, 2025 to January 4, 2026, the Palais Galliera, the Fashion Museum of the City of Paris, is dedicating a major retrospective to American designer Rick Owens, a singular and radical figure in contemporary fashion.
Since the 1990s, Rick Owens has built a unique universe marked by a brutalist, dark, and sculptural aesthetic. Featuring around 100 iconic silhouettes, the exhibition traces the key moments of his career through textile experimentation, architectural cuts, and references to underground cultures.

More than a simple retrospective, the exhibition also expands into the museum’s outdoor spaces, blurring the lines between art, fashion, and installation. Visitors are invited on an immersive journey through a total artwork, where garments become both artistic manifestos and wearable objects.
Rick Owens, known as the “lord of gothic glamour,” has explored themes of beauty, gender, and power for over three decades. The exhibition highlights the visionary consistency of his work—between provocation and refinement, brutality and poetry.
With this unprecedented proposition, the Palais Galliera pays tribute to a designer whose influence reaches far beyond fashion, engaging in a dialogue with visual art, performance, and architecture.
