“DIALOGUE”, ALAÏA’S NEW PROJECT!
The Alaïa fashion house is looking to combine fashion and culture with this new launch of cultural projects entitled “Dialogue”.
Why this project?
This is a major innovation for the brand. Pieter Mulier, the famous designer who has headed the label since 2021, is taking part in this innovation and wants to highlight this link between art and fashion.
“I’ve always wanted Alaïa to represent more than just clothes. And that’s how Azzedine looked at Alaïa. He was such a visionary that, right from the start, he envisioned Alaïa as a whole. A space where fashion and design open up to art and beauty. And that vision lives on today. Because I believe that fashion only makes sense if it connects with its time. To the world.” – Pieter Mulier
Where do we start?
To kick off this project in style, the brand is collaborating with Crazy Horse, the Parisian cabaret. The dancers are immersed in the world of Crazy Horse, with bodysuits, dresses and handbags, including the new Teckel leather bag, valued at 1,900 euros. In terms of colors, pastel is in the spotlight, with blue, yellow, beige and pink.
Photographer Sam Rock has highlighted the theme with shots that bring out the brand’s fundamental elements, including the iconic dress and Dachshund bag, but also the artistic aspect.
This photo could be compared to a graphic painting, in which we note a concordance between colors and shapes.
Why a cabaret?
A little history… In 1979, Azzedine Alaïa, the great founder of this brand, went to Crazy Horse to dress the cabaret’s dancers. In the courtyard of the Fondation Alaïa on rue de la Verrerie in Paris, you’ll find “Le Sein”, molded on a Crazy Horse dancer created by César, a friend of the designer.
To conclude…
After the famous pair of rhinestone ballerinas, Alaïa continues to surprise with this idea that brings a different look to clothing. We can safely say that the brand’s goal of respecting art and beauty has been greatly achieved.
