RECYCROM A PIGMENT FROM UPCYCLING

Traditional textile dyeing methods are extremely polluting for the planet, but constant technological advances allow the emergence of low-impact color manufacturing methods. Officina+39, an Italian textile chemistry company, has found a revolutionary and sustainable way to transform textile waste into pigment powders through an innovative technique using only naturally occurring chemicals.

Thanks to a sophisticated production process, textile waste fibers, such as production scraps or used garments, are transformed into an extremely fine powder that can be used as a pigment dye. This powder can be used to color fabrics and clothing made of cotton, wool, nylon or any natural fiber and blend. Recycrom can be coated using different methods: exhaustion dyeing, dipping, spraying, silk-screening and coating. Considering that Recycrom uses 100% recycled materials, a natural color variation may result in a washed out look.

Unlike other dyes, Recycrom is applied as a suspension and not as a chemical solution. Cela permet de diminuer les coûts de traitement, d’améliorer significativement la performance de filtration des eaux usées et donc de réduire l’impact environnemental.

Brands can collaborate with Officina+39 to make custom dyes from their own textile scraps and waste. Recycrom has been used by OVS, an Italian retailer, for two capsule collections, as well as by G-STAR Raw, which has produced garments using this pigment.
