The blazer dress trend!
There are many theories about the origin of the blazer jacket which is a timeless piece for both men and women! The blazer, which at the time was called a long jacket with crossed buttons, could have appeared in the 1820s in England. This jacket, was apparently worn by the sailing team of St John's College of Cambridge. It may also have appeared in 1937, when the captain of the ship HMS Blazer required his crew to wear a navy blue double-breasted jacket to welcome Queen Victoria to her ship. It is also possible that the name "blazer" comes from the "blazes" or stripes found on country club jackets of the 1870s. Whatever its origin, the blazer has been a sensational clothing piece for several years now!
In recent times, blazers have been worn by men with a button up shirt and non-matching trousers such as khakis, as opposed to wearing them with a matching pants suit. The jacket has also been seen in women's wardrobes, and has been worn in a formal way by layering it over an evening dress. Women also wear it over jeans or even a skirt. Today, the blazer has been revolutionised, especially the women's blazer as we can find different styles like long ones, oversized ones and even blazer dresses!
Since 2021 and now 2022, women have been wearing blazers directly on their skin as a dress. With its elegant, chic and structured cut, the blazer dress has made a dramatic entrance in the evening wear department and is not about to leave. We love this piece for its "girl boss" feel with its sharp shoulders and perfect length. Not only is it the perfect outfit for parties, but you can also wear it to work or on a shopping spree! Don't hesitate to wear a leather or red blazer dress, it will give you even more style and will make a trendier look. The practical side of this dress is that it is modular and adapts to all body types, as you can wear it oversized and loose or tight around the waist with a belt.
