THE 90S CAPTURES THE DECADE THAT SHAPED BRITISH CULTURE

The exhibition The 90s takes over Tate Britain in London, offering an immersive look into a decade that reshaped art, fashion, photography and pop culture in the United Kingdom.
Curated by Edward Enninful OBE, an influential figure in fashion and former editor in chief of British Vogue, the exhibition explores the period that followed the end of the Cold War and the economic recession, when a spirit of optimism, freedom and rebellion transformed the British cultural landscape.

The exhibition brings together iconic photographic works by Juergen Teller, Nick Knight, David Sims and Corinne Day, capturing the raw and innovative energy of the decade.
Alongside these images are artworks by Damien Hirst, Gillian Wearing and Yinka Shonibare, as well as fashion pieces by designers who defined the 1990s such as Vivienne Westwood, Alexander McQueen and Hussein Chalayan.
This combination highlights how the boundaries between fine art, popular culture and fashion were redefined during this period.

Running from 8 October 2026 to 14 February 2027 at Tate Britain on Millbank in London, the exhibition offers a vivid perspective on a decade that continues to influence contemporary creativity.
Through a scenography that places photography, art and fashion side by side, The 90s invites visitors to experience the intensity of a moment when experimentation and cross disciplinary dialogue left a lasting mark on British visual culture.
