“I KNOW NIGO” : CONFIRMING THE UNBREAKABLE BOND BETWEEN MUSIC AND FASHION

The influence music has on fashion has been evident throughout history. Music, much like fashion, has always been used as a way of self-expression and both are also emotional and obtainable forms of art that the masses can enjoy and partake in. The reason why fashion and music became so intricately linked is because music became a method of demonstrating individuality, political beliefs, and ideas rather than just homogenized entertainment. The way music influenced fashion (and vice versa) can be witnessed in almost every decade of last century.

In the eve of streetwear legend Nigo’s upcoming album “I KNOW NIGO” this link between fashion and music appears clearer than ever ! In this particular case, this isn’t the designer’s first run at this, as his music career is nearly as famed as his streetwear legacy. If his debut in the music world in the 90s were meant to awaken the Japanese youth and introduce them to new sounds, the friendships Nigo has built over the years with some of the biggest names in modern hip-hop have made the idea of music and fashion working hand in hand undeniable.

Pusha T, Nigo and Pharell Williams

Pharrell Williams, Pusha T, Tyler, The Creator & Ye were all there for Nigo’s debut show for Kenzo, sitting front row no less, with tracks from the upcoming album setting the tone.

In addition to being some of Nigo’s closest friends, you’ll obviously recognize those names from Billboard Charts. Same applies for pretty much all of the features on the album like A$AP Rocky and Kid Cudi to name a few.

“I KNOW NIGO” feel built to become a certified classic and a monument to the union of music and fashion.
