EUCALYPTUS LEATHER? IT'S POSSIBLE!
In this article, we take a look at eucalyptus leather, a vegan leather that's quite innovative.
After 28 years of research, Fabian Stadler, the creator of this leather, created his own brand called "Noanifashion", short for "no animal fashion".
Eucalyptus is a seldom-used product, yet this plant has a number of advantages that make it possible to produce quality leather:
- Resistance: it's one of the strongest vegan leathers.
- It's a leather that can be made in short circuits.
- Low-energy production, which is even better for the health of our environment.
Added to this is low water consumption and no use of GMO seeds.
Production is strongly based in Germany, with eucalyptus leaves purchased from German farmers. The renewable nature of this leather, with all the skills of a non-vegan leather, extends the list of methods for making pieces that are both environmentally friendly and fashionable. Texture, durability and resistance are also qualities of non-vegan leather. However, the environmental impact is not the same.
Although eucalyptus is very rarely used, it's highly recommended to use a leather of this type, or one made from cork, cactus or pineapple (yes, they do exist). This will avoid the need for significant additives, so that the leather doesn't decompose over time or when exposed to the elements, as is the case with animal leather.
So, we might as well dress well and respect the environment, right?
