SORAYAMA UNFOLDS HIS FUTURISTIC VISION IN TOKYO
The retrospective SORAYAMA Light Transparency Reflection opens at the Creative Museum Tokyo from 14 March 2026 to 31 May 2026.
Presented by Nanzuka Gallery, it brings together an exceptional selection of works that trace more than forty years of creation.
The exhibition is divided into nine immersive sections that explore three essential notions in Sorayama’s universe: light, transparency and reflection.
Announced as the most extensive presentation ever dedicated to the artist, it offers a journey into a world where metal, the body and fantasy merge in a striking dialogue.
Visitors move through a sequence of scenographic spaces that reveal the many facets of his practice.
The Gallery presents large photorealistic canvases that highlight the chrome silhouettes that made him famous.
Aquarium showcases his iconic shark sculpture, celebrated for its sensual and almost surreal presence.
Other installations extend this immersion, including TREX inspired by his childhood fascination with dinosaurs, and Mirror Maze which creates a mirrored labyrinth where forms split and reassemble.
Each room captures Sorayama’s obsession with reflective surfaces and with beauty heightened through technology.
A full section is dedicated to archival material and demonstrates the artist’s lasting impact on contemporary culture.
It features the original sketches of the Sony AIBO robot dog as well as collaborations with Dior and Roger Dubuis, highlighting his influence on fashion, design and innovation.
This retrospective presents a creator whose vision continues to shape the collective imagination.
In Tokyo, light, chrome and the body become elements of a broader reflection on the future and on the role of desire in a world where the line between reality and artifice is constantly shifting.
