Last April, Celine inaugurated its new store in the most desirable neighborhood in Miami. Dedicated to innovative fashion & design experiences, Miami Design District is a hub where contemporary architecture meets upscale interior design. Valerio Olgiati, famous for his detailed monolithic work, created a store that reflects the brand’s minimal effortless beauty vision.

A Canopy of Clouds

The Zurich based architect used Brazilian Pinta Verde marble, an extremely precious natural white stone with unique iridescent green-blue veins, in order to create a cloudy minimal effect. With the stone being suitable for large-area applications, Olgiati didn’t hesitate to use it in order to pave with it the entire building, from the façade to the display stands. The result is a magnificent minimal space that creates the feeling of a canopy of clouds.

Two pyramid-shaped concrete pillars rise through the marble floor, while one of them forms the stairway that leads to the upper level where the latest ready-to-wear and accessories collections are displayed. Grey suede-like fabric was used for the floor-to-ceiling fitting rooms’ curtains, the rugs and the cushion seats, creating a total interior balance that stimulates our intellect.

Miami Design District : The Place to Be

Since January 2018 that Hedi Slimane took the helm of Celine, the fashion House is going through a transition. Reinforced by menswear, couture and fragrance collections, the brand aims to boost its global presence and compete with the industry’s giants. Thus, Miami’s Design District is the place to be! With one in New York and another in Beverly Hills, Miami’s design district is the third in the U.S., aiming to become the top luxury-shopping destination in America.

What makes it different from the rest? Its cultural perspective! It’s the only design district where the analogy of art, fashion, design and architecture is perfect. The upscale sophisticated cultural experience offered to its visitors is what made Céline open a store there and inspired Valerio Olgiati to create this urban artwork.
