Always at the cutting edge of technological innovation, the Chinese smartphone manufacturer Huawei has just launched the “Fashion Flair” programme, a new approach to fashion design based on the use of… a mobile phone.
A collection with a humanoid design
Combining the power of the Huawei P30’s artificial intelligence (AI) and the creative talent of Anna Yang, artistic director of the ANNAKIKI brand, this project aims to design unique fashion pieces, whatever the style.
Composed of 20 pieces and sold exclusively in the luxury e-shop LUISAVIAROMA.COM, the collection was unveiled at the iconic Superstudio + in Milan on 9 May.
“At Huawei we aspire to combine technology with human expertise, allowing us to go beyond what is humanly possible, but keep the authenticity that the human eye can bring,” stated Isabella Lazzini, Marketing & Retail Director Huawei CBG Italia.
Technology as a fashion inspiration driver
For, in concrete terms, how is this kind of innovation possible? “Fashion Flair” is first and foremost an original app from Huawei, which made it possible to input and process tens of thousands of iconic fashion images from the past 100 years, as well as integrate images unique to the world of ANNAKIKI. By determining a certain number of filters in the designer’s app, the HUAWEI P30 and HUAWEI P30 PRO’s AI draws up an initial outfit suggestion, which is then developed by the designer into a finished garment.
Once all the images have been processed, the app can create endless suggestions and offer designers unlimited creative possibilities.
“The powerful AI in the HUAWEI P30 Pro became an ever-present source of inspiration and has made it possible for me to design clothes in a different way. Co-creation with technology has been extremely stimulating and I am certain that, in the future, technology will play a distinctive role in the fashion world, opening up completely new scenarios that today we can only imagine,” stated Anna Yang. We don’t doubt it for a second.
