Loro Piana in Shanghai: An Immersive Journey into the World of Luxury and Craftsmanship

Loro Piana’s immersive exhibition in Shanghai, organized to mark its centenary, offered a sensory exploration of its heritage and craftsmanship, highlighting its ties with China and its exceptional creations.

To mark its centenary, Loro Piana held its first exhibition in China at the Museum of Art Pudong (MAP) in Shanghai. From March 22 to May 5, 2025, this immersive retrospective invited visitors to discover the history of the Maison through a unique sensory experience, showcasing its exceptional craftsmanship and strong ties with China.

The MAP, designed by Ateliers Jean Nouvel, provided the ideal setting for this exhibition.

Thanks to its modernity and rich cultural program, the museum became the perfect venue to retrace Loro Piana’s journey. The retrospective featured fifteen rooms, each offering a fully immersive experience into the brand’s universe. Visitors had the opportunity to admire iconic pieces such as the Traveller and Roadster jackets, as well as creations made from the finest materials, including ultra-soft cashmere and wool.

The exhibition also highlighted the outstanding craftsmanship that defines every Loro Piana product. Interactive installations, such as the Cocooning room and behind-the-scenes videos from the Valsesia workshop, provided insight into the creation process. One of the exhibition’s key moments was the emphasis on Loro Piana’s relationship with China—the origin country of the cashmere that has made the brand famous.

The exhibition featured remarkable pieces, including a cotton and silk embroidered skirt, crafted over more than 1,000 hours of meticulous work. An exclusive catalogue, introduced by Loro Piana’s CEO and Judith Clark, completed this immersive experience for visitors wishing to continue their discovery.
