A Nobel Prize-Winning Material with Super Powers
If we take the thinnest possible layer of graphite which means just a single layer of carbon atoms arranged in a hexagon formation, we would have an ultra stretchable and strong material; Graphene. For the isolation of Graphene out of Graphite, the scientists’ duo Andre Geim and Konstantin Novoselov won the Nobel Prize in 2010.
In order to point out the extend of this material’s super powers scientists claim that a spider web covered with Graphene could catch a falling plane! How amazing is that!

Vollebak’s team, whose desire to constantly push their limits and innovate is part of their DNA, used Graphene in order to create a fully reversible jacket with one side coated in this supermaterial. The project involves interaction with customers who are willing to buy, test and give feedback on the jacket in order to further assist the development of Graphene-based garments. This “Part jacket. Part science experiment” as they call it aims to explore the true limits of Graphene’s properties.
