Merino wool, a fashionable material!
On Tuesday, January 23, at 5 rue Matignan in Paris, Pieter Mulier, Artistic Director of the Alaïa brand, organized a small-scale fashion show.
For his Fall 2024 summer show, our artistic director's main theme was merino wool, a soft, supple material that keeps you warm. One of the advantages of merino wool is its ability to limit perspiration odors, but also its contribution to thermal regulation.
In the Alaïa boutique, numerous creations were presented on the catwalk to a small audience. On the menu: curves, circular shapes and architectural lines.
As we mentioned earlier, merino wool is the main message of this show, the common thread, which is why it's interesting to look at the details of each outfit on the catwalk.
An array of outfits were on show, from long-sleeved dresses and coats to short skirts and asymmetrical dresses, all containing merino wool.
Pieter Mulier wanted to highlight this material through his creations, and it was a success, as each outfit is more beautiful than the next.
"We spent over a year developing the fabrics for this collection. They are all based on a merino wool yarn, reinvented over and over again with our textile and knitwear suppliers, who have been working with us for four decades."
In terms of colors, you'll find blue and white, as well as the flagship colors we're seeing at the moment: pale pink, beige and red.
This show echoes the Women's Autumn Winter 24-25 book, with wool being one of the materials evoked and highlighted, like this coat, or these inspirational pants. Images from the Alaïa brand are also featured in the book as examples.
In terms of colors, the same tones seen on the catwalk are used: blue, black and several types of pink.
This fashion show brought out the beauty of merino wool in different forms - mission accomplished !
