Inclusive beauty: an itinerant beauty salon by the L'Oréal Foundation for women in very precarious situations
Since 2007, the L'Oréal Foundation has aimed to support women to enable them to express their full potential and have a positive impact on society. To this end, the L'Oréal Group has set up several support programs in different sectors such as science, to encourage young women to choose scientific courses and reward female researchers, but also to support women who have come up with innovative solutions to the consequences of global warming.
But more than that, the L'Oréal Foundation is committed to beauty for women weakened by disease or precariousness. Several important actions across nearly 30 countries have provided access to reconstructive surgery for women and children, as well as free access to beauty care to contribute to self-recovery and social inclusion.
In order to accompany women through inclusive beauty, the Foundation has set up a mobile beauty salon to allow access to all to treatments often seen as a luxury. However, following scientific research, it has been realized that the care of women who are socially or illness-affected has an important impact on their mental health. By 2019, the first wellness bus had appeared and more than 850 women were able to benefit from this therapeutic experience in France.
"It's a bubble of well-being in complicated daily lives" emphasizes Alexandra Palt, general manager and social and environmental responsibility of the L'Oréal Foundation.
For this summer 2022, we are pleased to see this itinerant beauty salon appear in priority neighborhoods and rural areas in several regions of France: Ile-de-France, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes and Provence-Alpes Côte d'Azur. The L'Oréal Foundation has shared its itinerary with partner associations such as Banlieues Santé. These moments of well-being will be accompanied by professional socio-aestheticians who will listen to them and help them regain their self-confidence.
