Barbie Core : keeping up with the trend

All brands have been immersed in the Barbie universe since the release of Greta Gerwig's film in cinemas on July 19.

The film's marketing team has done its homework. In the metro, in stores, on social networks, in the street... Barbie Pink is invading the world of fashion, design and retail.

The whole world turned pink in the blink of an eye.

Pink, the emblematic color of Barbie, is often associated with femininity. Today, pink is worn by women and men alike, and is just as much a part of design.

Barbie has been in the spotlight since her creation in 1959 by Mattel.

In January 2022, Balmain collaborates with Barbie. Valentino highlighted an all-pink collection at its FW22-23 Fashion Week show, Jacquemus opened a pop-up store entirely in Barbie pink... Brands opened the pink ball and encouraged many to adopt the "Barbie Core" trend.

Greta Gerwig's film is setting the trend worldwide with its extensive marketing. Fans of the Barbie universe are invited to book Ken's DreamHouse, a "Barbie House" made available free of charge on Airbnb.

Countless collaborations were born: Xbox, NYX Cosmetics, Boohoo, Hot Wheels, Aldo, Forever 21, Claire's, OPI, Impala skate, Starbucks...

The streets are awash with pink billboards, and you can spot them at bus stops, in the metro, shopping malls, train stations and even airports.

On all social networks, many celebrities sport Barbie-inspired looks, but there are Barbie filters too!

Barbie branding is everywhere. Just type "Barbie" into Google and you'll be amazed by the glittering pink stars that fill the search page.

How to adopt the "Barbie Core" trend?

The "Barbie Core" trend is inspired by the world of Barbie, mainly by her highly colorful and aesthetically pleasing looks. Bright colors, shimmering materials, sparkling patterns... Barbie style exudes joie de vivre.

To embrace the trend, start by familiarizing yourself with touches of pink through accessories such as belts, bags, jewelry and scarves. Pink shoes are also a great way to add a subtle touch to your outfit.
